Claverack's own Amara Steenburn was recently profiled on CBS6-Albany's "Personal Best" series, a series that celebrates local youth that give their personal best to sports and academics. Amara, a Senior at the Albany Academy of Girls, has been snowshoe racing since sixth grade. Her hard work and determination paid off big last year at the Empire State Games in Lake Placid, where she took home gold medals in the 100 meter and 400 meter races! Amara lives here in Claverack with her proud parents Gary and Shanda. On behalf of a proud community, I congratulate you, Amara, on your many successes and wish you all the best in your future endeavors. You are an example of all that is possible when our youth, guided by the firm hands of good parents, put their minds and energy into something positive. - Kippy

Thank you Mr. Weigelt for your nice words. I'm heading to Lake Placid on 2/9 and will be adding to my medal count!
