As I prepare to follow in the footsteps of my late Uncle John Hess, and be sworn in as Supervisor of the Town of Claverack, I'd like to take a moment to thank a couple people. First, I'd like to thank outgoing Councilman Mike Johnston. Mike has served our community for many years, in many ways. He was first elected to the Philmont Village Board where he served as Trustee and Deputy Mayor, then of course his time here on the Claverack Town Board as Councilman and a term as Deputy Town Supervisor, and his many years of service to the Mellenville Volunteer Fire Company #1, the former Philmont Rescue Squad, and the various other civic groups that he continues to support and volunteer for today. His energy and passion will be sorely missed and we thank him immensely for all he has done for this town. I'd also like to thank outgoing town Supervisor Robin Andrews for her hard work these past four years. While we may have disagreed on some issues and philosophy, there is no disputing Robin's love for this community. Thank you, Robin. Your work and accomplishments are appreciated. I thank incoming Councilmen Stephen Hook and Brian Keeler, and current Councilwoman Katy Cashen for your willingness to step up, and sacrifice on behalf of our town. We have some important challenges ahead of us. I look forward to working with you all to meet those challenges and bring positive change to our town. Last, but certainly not least, I'd like to thank my family, friends, and supporters who have helped me along the way to this day. I promise to do my absolute best, every day, to ensure our town government works in the best interests of all residents. Thank you everyone, and Happy New Year!
